Until recently, Baccarat was seen as the game of the rich and wealthy. In fact, in most casinos, the Baccarat betting tables are placed separately from the other normal betting tables. These shows how highly esteemed this particular game are held. It still is the game of the rich because it involves placing bets that are extremely high. However, there are online casinos and other physical casinos which have slowly opened up this game to gamblers who are not well to do. Today, you can place bets even if you are not that rich. With a few hundred pounds, you can enjoy a game of Baccarat in any casino, online or otherwise.
Contrary to the complicated matters of class and dress code linked to the game, the rules of Baccarat are very simple. The games main aim is for the players to make bets on whose cards will get closest to the number nine. In this game, all one has to do is to bet on the banker, the player or a tie of both. These are the three types of bets in the game. The card value of 9 is the closing hand and the bet you place should be done with this in mind. The cards that win must come close to but never exceed the total of nine.
Face cards like Kings, Jacks and Queens are valued at 0 while 2 - 9 retain their numerical value accordingly. The 10’s are also valued at 0. In cases where the total exceeds 10, the first value is dropped. Once this happens, the player loses his/her say in the game. You are normally given two cards and so is the dealer. If total of your cards comes up to 9 then you are naturally the winner. When you have dealt both cards, you can always get more if you wish. In most cases, the banker tends to win in this game. Remember, the most valued number in this game is nine and the person whose cards are closest to that number wins the game.
