Online craps

If you’ve never played this dice game before you may feel a bit intimidated, but in reality Craps is quite an easy game once you know the basics. The aim of the game is to predict the outcome of a roll of two dice. The betting system can initially seem quite complex, however players are simply betting for either the player to win or for the dealer to win. Within that, there are generally only four bets which players should make and these are detailed below.

Guide to playing craps online

Pass Line Bets
A game of craps begins with players making bets on the “Pass Line” or the “Don’t Pass Line”. Pass line bets are even money wagers and is a bet that wins if the roller of the dice (the “shooter”) rolls a natural (7 or 11) on their first roll. If a 2, 3, or 12 (craps) are rolled then you lose. Any other number results in a “point” being established. To win, the player must roll the same point number again before a 7 is rolled.

Don’t Pass Line Bets
Don’t pass line bets are the opposite of pass line bets except that a roll on 12 is counted as a “push” (tie). To clarify: a 2 or 3 is a win, a 7 or 11 results in a loss, and any other number establishes a point. If a point is established the player must roll a 7 in order to win before the same point number is rolled again. Don’t pass line bets are not recommended as the chances of winning are lower than pass line bets and have the same payout rate.

Bets after the Point
The following bets are those that can be made only after a point is established.
• Come Bets: essentially another even money “pass line” bet where the player wins on the first roll of a natural (7, 11) and loses on craps (2, 3, 12). Other rolls results in a “come point” being established. A come bet is won if the come point number is rolled again before a 7.
• Don’t Come Bets: these are essentially even money “don’t pass line” bets that win if the shooter rolls craps (2 or 7), loses on a natural (7 or 11) and ties on 12. Any other number establishes a come point which is won if a 7 is rolled before the come point.
• Place Bets: these bets are placed only after a point is established (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10). You place a bet either for or against the point number being rolled again before a 7. Payouts differ depending on the numbers, see below:

Numbers Bet Payout
4 or 10 To Win 9 to 5
4 or 10 To Lose 5 to 11
5 or 9 To Win 7 to 5
5 or 9 To Lose 5 to 8
6 or 8 To Win 7 to 6
6 or 8 To Lose 4 to 5

• Big 6 and Big 8 Bets: placed at any roll of the dice, these bets win if a 6 or 8 comes out before a 7 is rolled and both pay even money. These bets are known as “sucker” bets as they can effectively be wagered as a place bet with better payouts.

Field Bet
A field bet is one for the next roll being a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 whereby rolls of 2 or 12 have a 2 to 1 payout and the others pay even money.

Proposition Bets
There are two types of proposition bets that can be wagered. These are:
• Hard Way Bets: these bets should be placed very infrequently. They are based on “hard” combinations (e.g., an 8 made from two 4’s) and “easy” combinations (e.g., and 8 made from 5+3 or 6+2). These bets win if the hard number is rolled before its easy equivalent or a 7. Payouts range from 7 to 1 for hard 4 and 10, and 9 to 1 for hard 6 and 8.
• One Roll Bets: quite simply these bets are placed on the outcome of the next roll of the dice. The table below provide an overview of these bets and their corresponding payouts:

One Roll Bet Winning Numbers Payout
Any Craps 2, 3, 12 7 to 1
Any Seven 7 4 to 1
Aces or Boxcars 2 or 12 30 to 1
Ace Deuce 3 15 to 1
Eleven 11 15 to 1
Horn 2, 3, 11, 12 7 to 2 (for 3, 11)
15 to 2 (for 2, 12)
